Downtown in Business, in association with the Northern Power Towns group, will host a parliamentary reception in Westminster on the afternoon of Wednesday 22nd April 2026, with a host of top speakers confirmed to address the event.

The Deputy Leader of the Labour Party Lucy Powell MP, the recently appointed Envoy for the North, Tom Riordan, and the interim chief executive of the Cheshire & Warrington Combined Authority Nick Walkley will lead the discussion and debate about how Cheshire, Lancashire, and Cumbria can contribute to the government’s economic growth mission and what devolution deals for the counties should look like.

The group chair and chief executive of Downtown in Business Frank McKenna commented:

“We are delighted to be partnering with Northern Power Towns to host this important event, and we look forward to the opportunity of showcasing the outstanding assets the North West’s county-regions have to our colleagues in Westminster.

“This parliamentary reception brings together business leaders, MPs, Peers, and Ministers – alongside local government decision-makers and business leaders – to continue the conversation of how strong partnerships across the private, public, and academic sectors can contribute to economic growth in our counties, and to UK PLC.”
