Downtown in Business was delighted to host a private dinner with Birmingham City Council on Wednesday 17th February 2026, welcoming Managing Director Joanne Roney CBE to an intimate evening of discussion at the excellent Park Regis Birmingham.

The conversation around the table focused firmly on the future of Birmingham as a city positioned for growth and investment. Joanne spoke with real passion for the city she was born in, setting out a clear and confident vision for Birmingham’s next chapter. Central to that message was the role of culture and, critically, skills in driving long-term economic success.

Guests also heard about the leadership and ambition required to deliver that vision, supported by Joanne’s senior team, including Richard Lawrence. The discussion reinforced the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors in ensuring Birmingham continues to compete on a national and international stage.

With further announcements due to be made at MIPIM, this is a conversation that will continue beyond the city and into global investment markets.

Downtown in Business would like to extend sincere thanks to Park Regis Birmingham for hosting us so brilliantly and for providing the perfect setting for a timely and important discussion.
