COMMON PURPOSE LAUNCHES FREE UK101 LEADERSHIP PROGRAMME FOR YOUNG LEADERS

International leadership organization, Common Purpose, is launching UK101, a new initiative supporting young people in the UK, to develop their leadership skills.

International leadership organization, Common Purpose, is launching UK101, a new initiative supporting young people in the UK, to develop their leadership skills. This free, interactive, online programme, is open to 18-25 year olds and offers participants the chance to connect with each other and explore the UK101 leadership model, which has been co-created with 1,000 young people.

Marie Mohan, Chief Executive, Common Purpose UK, said: “We need to invest in our young people at this challenging time.  A recent Resolution Foundation Report* revealed that one third of 18-24 year olds have lost their jobs or been furloughed; so this programme couldn’t be more timely, as the Covid crisis is impacting them disproportionately.

“UK101 has been developed for, and with, young people and brings a fresh perspective on what it means to be a young leader with its focus on four leadership characteristics:  radical, embracing, strategic and resilient.

“This is the latest addition to our Common Purpose global ‘Legacy’ campaign that invests in young people, across the world, so they can become a connected generation of leaders with a clear vision for what their legacy will be.  Complementing UK101, we are also running place-based Legacy programmes which engage young people in shaping their cities ahead.  The first of these took place in Newcastle, in March, and many more are scheduled for the autumn including Bradford and Leeds.”

Applications are now open via commonpurpose.org/uk101 for the inaugural UK101 programme, which begins 22 June 2020.
