Leading private sector lobby organisation Downtown in Business is readying itself for the launch of its latest office in Newcastle.
The launch event will take place at the city’s INNSiDE by Meliá Hotel on the evening of Thursday 19th May 2022, with keynote addresses by chief executive of Newcastle City Council Pam Smith and the chief executive of Liverpool John Lennon Airport and former Finance Director at Newcastle United Football Club, John Irving.
Frank McKenna, the chief executive and group Chair of Downtown in Business said; “We are delighted to reveal that Newcastle will be the next core city where the Downtown brand will be established. The city is one of the most exciting in the UK, with a huge amount of opportunity and potential moving forward.
“We already have many members who have a presence in the city, and we are really looking forward to getting to know the business community across the Northeast.
This is part of our plan for DIB to become a national business voice by the end of 2023. We are determined to offer businesses an independent, robust, and fearless platform from which entrepreneurs, business owners, and decision-makers can effectively engage with politicians at a local, regional, and national level.
“We also offer a fantastic B2B service that has helped facilitate over £2Billion worth of deals being done across our network since we set up in 2003. I am sure that Newcastle will be a place where the Downtown brand can add value and continue to thrive.”
DIB was established in 2003. It currently operates in seven locations. Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Lancashire, Cheshire, and London.
