Cllr Robinson, who has been the cabinet member for finance at the City Council for two years, whilst continuing to be the lead portfolio holder for Transport at the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority. Liam was first elected to the council in 2008.
DIB boss Frank McKenna said:
“We have hosted many events with Liam over the years, with a particular focus on strategic transport issues. He has always been open and honest about his plans and opinions – and he understands and appreciates the need for genuine partnerships to be developed between the public and private sectors if the city is to succeed.
“I am really looking forward to working with him in the months and years ahead. He is inheriting some huge challenges; a city that is struggling to bounce back following COVID, a business community that feels disengaged from the local authority, and government appointed Commissioners occupying the Town Hall. That all needs to be addressed positively and quickly.
“On the flip side, Liverpool is hosting the Eurovision song contest this year, which offers a massive opportunity for positive international exposure, the new Everton Football Club stadium could act as a significant catalyst for major regeneration in the north end of the city, the new Accommodation BID will be launched, and the Knowledge Quarter continues to attract investment.
“Nobody will understand the challenges and opportunities more than Liam, and our members will look forward to meeting him at this breakfast event, and supporting him in his efforts in the future.”
