Leeds Boss Optimistic Despite Current Challenges

The chief executive of Leeds City Council, Tom Riordan, joined Downtown in Business for a special ‘Leaders Lunch’ Roundtable discussion at the fabulous Fazenda Restaurant.

In conversation with the Group chairman and chief executive of DIB Frank McKenna at Fazenda, Tom Riordan, outlined ambitious plans and an optimistic outlook for the city’s future, despite the current economic challenges that the country faces.

Leeds now boasts more cranes on its skyline than at any other time, demonstrating a buoyant development and regeneration programme, the Channel 4 win is attracting interest and investment, and the city is delivering a significant housebuilding programme.

Tom also outlined the benefits that the devolved West Yorkshire Combined Authority was starting to contribute, and he is hopeful that the recent ‘trailblazer’ devolution deals announced for the West Midlands and Manchester will soon come through for other city region bodies too.
