Liverpool in London for budget day

On Wednesday 30th of October, Downtown in Business hosted their Parliamentary Reception for the Liverpool region, on the back of Budget Day.

Peers, MPs, and business leaders from across the Liverpool City Region were among over 100 delegates who attended the Downtown in Business inaugural Liverpool Parliamentary Reception at Westminster on Wednesday (30th October).

City Council leader Cllr Liam Robinson, Mayor Steve Rotheram, and the chief executive of the LCR Combined Authority Katherine Fairclough presented to guests their thoughts on the budget and outlined the opportunities that exist for investment and economic growth in the region.

The group chair and chief executive of DIB Frank McKenna said:

“We had an exceptional two-days in London, promoting Liverpool and the wider city region with investors, opinion formers, and politicians. We hosted an exclusive private dinner for our sponsors and senior decision-makers on Tuesday evening, before taking over the parliamentary terrace for budget day with the help of ‘Team Liverpool’.

“As I said on the day, these events are only possible with support from sponsors, and we are hugely grateful to the Liverpool BID Company, Muse, Catapult, Compliance Chain, Nugent, Starship, and Warwick North West for enabling this parliamentary reception to happen.

“The feedback we have had from the event has been really positive, and we plan to make this an annual occasion.”

Downtown in Business will be back in the capital for its Lancashire in London dinner with some of the county’s MPs in December – and then in January we host our 2025 Manchester Parliamentary Reception.
