On Thursday, 11th February, Joanne Roney OBE, the newly appointed Managing Director of Birmingham City Council, joined private sector leaders for an exclusive dinner at Unique Venues Birmingham as part of Downtown in Business’ In Conversation With series.

With a distinguished career, including her tenure as Chief Executive of Manchester City Council since 2017, where she led significant reforms in health and social care. Joanne stepped into her new role in Birmingham in September 2024.

At this dinner, Joanne shared valuable insights on local government strategies, finance, economic growth, housing, and HS2, sparking engaging discussions about the city’s future. It was an inspiring conversation, and we look forward to seeing her vision for Birmingham take shape.

A huge thank you to Unique Venues Birmingham for hosting such a fantastic evening and to our event sponsors, Bruntwood SciTech, for their support!
