Best for Britain & West Midlands Growth Company spell out economic opportunities at DIB roundtable

Downtown in Business hosted an exclusive roundtable lunch at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Birmingham with the focus on investment and economic growth.

Downtown in Business hosted an exclusive roundtable lunch at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Birmingham earlier this week, with the focus on investment and economic growth.

The discussion was led by Tom Brufatto, Director of Policy & Research at Best for Britain, a think tank that works to navigate the UK through the challenges caused by Brexit, and Andrew Dunbar, Head of Capital Attraction at the West Midlands Growth Company, which promotes Birmingham and the region to investors, nationally and internationally.

Tom outlined the potential uplift that a new trade deal with the EU could deliver to the UK, whilst also presenting a series of polls that indicated the political tightrope the government is walking when approaching its EU-reset.

Andrew gave DIB members a run through the extensive UKREiiF programme that the West Midlands will be showcasing at the property and investor festival that takes place In Leeds next month.

Rob Valentine, of event sponsor Bruntwood SCItech commented:

“This was a fascinating and informative discussion, with both the economic opportunities and challenges highlighted for the UK and the West Midlands explained clearly and with expert research and polling to back up the presentations made.”
