B&M Waste Services have partnered with the Doubletree Hilton Hotel & Spa in Liverpool to achieve a recycling-led waste management solution that minimises carbon impact and diverts 100% of waste from landfill.
The DoubleTree Hotel & Spa Liverpool is a newly renovated Grade II Listed hotel. Located in the heart of the city, where stunning Corinthian architecture meets contemporary upscale comfort. As well as a bustling hotel, the DoubleTree Hilton also boasts Koukash Bar and Grill, a vibrant and modern eatery combing a unique dining experience with fantastic culinary delights.
In addition, the Hotel and Restaurant also has onsite spa facilities; eforea Spa at DoubleTree Liverpool is an oasis of peace and tranquillity in the heart of the city providing the perfect place to escape from the frantic pace of modern life.
So many facilities mean there are many different waste streams that pass through the hotel every day – from general waste to food and glass.
Chris Mutch, Maintenance Manager for the DoubleTree Liverpool, is responsible for “the building envelope” – that is, everything inside and outside of the building – meaning that waste management is a high priority for him and his staff. He explained; “As a 24 hour business, we need routine, consistency and efficiency. It’s imperative that there are no business interruptions, which is one of the reasons why we opted to work with B&M Waste. However, I worked with B&M Waste for over 4 years in a previous role and never had any issues at all with the service – so it made sense to carry that on here at the DoubleTree Hilton. We knew the way they worked and that’s exactly what we wanted. What’s more, prior to working with B&M, we were using a waste broker so didn’t have that direct contact who we could speak to if and when we needed to.”
In addition to a reliable service in a busy city centre location, B&M Waste have also helped DoubleTree Liverpool to significantly improve their recycling levels with waste now being processed into Refuse Derived Fuel rather than landfill. The hotel also enjoys quarterly environmental reports from B&M Waste, indicating exactly where their waste has gone, and even demonstrates equivalent levels of trees saved.
Tom Aspinall, Account Manager at B&M Waste Services, said; “It’s great to be working with such a highly established and respected hotel such as DoubleTree Hilton – and their commitment to sustainability and responsible waste management is the icing on the cake.”
