Q61 Nail + Beauty Studio unveils child and baby-friendly initiatives

Q61, the award-winning nail and beauty studio group, with salons in Leeds and Harrogate, has revealed its latest initiatives to make its extensive service menu more accessible and attractive to new mums.

Q61, the award-winning nail and beauty studio group, with salons in Leeds and Harrogate, has revealed its latest initiatives to make its extensive service menu more accessible and attractive to new mums.

The Yorkshire-based group, which opened the doors to its second salon on Albert Street in Harrogate town-centre in November 2018, has unveiled a variety of child-friendly features exclusive to its Harrogate location. With a strong client focus and a unique insight into its clients’ needs, the launch of the child-friendly initiative at Q61 Harrogate is designed to make access to beauty treatments, pampering and self-care, easier and more attractive to new mums and mothers of young children, who have previously found a lack of childcare or a lack of child-friendly amenities at beauty salons a huge barrier.

Recognising that a lack of childcare, or the expense of childcare, often prevents new mums from enjoying a trip to the beauty salon, Q61 Harrogate now offers designated appointment times for mothers of young children. During these times, mothers are able to pop in for a beauty treatment or nail appointment and bring their baby or toddler along with them. It means that mums can indulge in beauty treatments without the need to arrange childcare, while feeling confident that their child is welcome. A complimentary refreshment – tea, coffee, herbal tea or prosecco, served with biscuits – is offered during these appointments to help clients feel indulged, pampered and welcome. Alternatively, mothers who would rather visit Q61 without their baby can choose from the salon’s extensive service menu, which features a range of express appointments designed to appeal to time-poor new mums.

With a clear focus on making beauty more accessible to mothers, the salon interior of Q61 Harrogate has also been designed with new mums in mind, boasting bespoke child-friendly facilities. The luxury state-of-the-art salon includes a pram parking area, a clean and easily accessible baby changing area, as well as a designated relaxation area where mothers with their babies can sit and enjoy a coffee in between treatments. The salon also uniquely features a private feeding area, a space designed to allow clients to feed their baby, in a relaxed and welcoming yet private environment with a no judgement policy illustrated in its bespoke signage for the room.

It isn’t just new mums that have been the focus of Q61’s campaign to make beauty more accessible, however. Both its Leeds and Harrogate salons offer a wide range of nail and beauty treatments that are suitable throughout pregnancy. Recognising that pregnant women may feel unsure about which treatments are safe or suitable during pregnancy, all nail technicians and beauty therapists at Q61 are fully trained to understand the limitations of pregnancy, to know which treatments are fully safe during the various stages of pregnancy, and which treatments should be avoided, or advised against. All Q61 staff are qualified, experienced and confident in treating pregnant clients, and are able to make them feel at ease.

With a service menu, client experience and salon interior designed specifically to appeal to new mums, Q61 Harrogate has positioned itself as an attractive, accessible and welcoming option for expectant clients or those with small children. As Q61 co-director Helena Linsky explains: “At Q61 we understand how important – yet tricky – it is for new mums to take care of their own self-care needs. Our aim at Q61 is to make that seemingly impossible task much easier. We hope these initiatives will help encourage existing, new and expectant mothers along to a much-needed pamper session or beauty appointment, and hope they will resonate with, and be welcomed by, mothers from Harrogate and the surrounding areas.”
