Birkenhead received welcome news last week as it was revealed that Owen Drew would be opening their new premises in the town centre.
The Wirral-based brand which has a range of over 30 different scented candles, opened the doors to its boutique this week. The company recently moved from its home in the Pacific Road Business Centre and has since acquired a larger premises in Wirral Point, more suited to increased production.
“Birkenhead has had a lot of bad news over the past few years as a number retailers have shut shop and turned their back on the area. We are proud to be flying the flag for Birkenhead and offering customers a luxury shopping experience here in the town centre”.
Despite a host of celebrity fans and prestigious magazine endorsements, the company has humble origins. After being dissatisfied with the quality of mass produced ‘supermarket’ candles, founder Drew Cockton purchased £40 of supplies from the internet and set about making his own candles using natural wax and essential oils, before selling them to craft fayres and eventually to other businesses.
