The evolution and diversity of MIPIM was one of the key outcomes at a recent Downtown Birmingham event, hosted at Cornwall Buildings.

The ‘Post MIPIM’ forum event, sponsored by Downtown Partner, Bruntwood, saw a panel of speakers share their experiences at the 30th MIPIM festival, which is held in Cannes each year.

The event, chaired by, David Hillan from Grant Thornton heard from Louise Brooke-Smith (Arcadis), Rob Valentine (Bruntwood) and Noel Street (3D Reid). The panel shared their experiences from the South of France.

Louise, explained how the number of senior business women attending the event has vastly improved, commenting “people don’t realise how much we have moved on, from past festivals.”

Noel, highlighted the number of senior individuals who attended the event, and the panel agreed that in the future creating opportunities for middle tier individuals to attend the event, would be a good thing.

Moving on from the MIPIM discussion Rob, discussed how the 30 years of the London Centric model has not allowed regions to flourish and that the system is broken.

Downtown’s Head of Business Support for Birmingham, Abby Goldie, commented; “It was a fantastic event this morning and I hope the delegates learned a bit more about MIPIM and the Birmingham regions presence there.

“I would like to thank Cornwall Building for hosting the event, thank you to Bruntwood for sponsoring and of course our panelists for providing some fantastic feedback.”
