Global law firm Kennedys has helped secure a 50-year lease for the development of a regional expansion project in the Philippines for Hong Kong business jet operator Metrojet.
The 26,000m2 state-of-the-art business aviation facility, which is planned to be operational in Q2 of next year, is set to deliver operational excellence throughout Asia Pacific.
Designed to provide a world class customer experience whilst maximising safety and productivity in all activities, and built to the highest international standards including a fully typhoon-proof structure and an aviation specific fire suppression system, the facility also includes over 2,500m2 of customer accommodation and storage, fixed-base operator (FBO) capability and engineering support workshops and materials warehousing. With a dedicated taxi-way and parking ramp of over 11,000m2 it will provide secure and private aircraft parking, maintenance and FBO services.
Sarah Maylor, a Partner in Kennedys’ Sheffield office, worked closely with Simon Dawes, a Senior Associate in the firm’s real estate team in London, on securing the 50-year lease contract with the pair advising on construction and real estate matters, respectively.
Sarah says: “We are really pleased to have been able to secure this lease for Metrojet. The development itself will transform their operations throughout the Asia Pacific region and adds to the rapid growth that Clark International Airport, in the Philippines, is currently seeing as both a strong business district and aviation and logistics centre. This is one of a number of transactions we have recently completed or are currently working on and further underlines the comprehensive commercial expertise and capabilities available to our clients around the world.”
Earlier this month Kennedys acted for Norwegian insurer, Protector Insurance, securing them a ten-year lease in the UK.
