B&M Waste Services, a Birmingham-based Waste Management Company, have pledged a donation of £1,000 to local charity, Little Hearts Matter.
Little Hearts Matter are the only charity in the UK that supports children with single ventricle heart conditions. These conditions, often known as half a heart, are not compatible with life and the only way children survive the diagnosis is through three major heart operations by the age of 6.
Stephen Lee, Business Development Manager at B&M Waste, has a son named Harry, who was diagnosed before birth with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome- this means that Harry only has half a working heart. After Stephen brought the Charity to B&M’s attention, staff have supported the Charity through a range of fundraising efforts, such as completing the Great North Run in Tyneside, and will continue their efforts to raise further funds.
Speaking on the donation, Graham Curtis, Director at B&M Waste Services, said: “B&M are delighted to be making this donation to Little Hearts Matter. Since Stephen brought the Charity to our attention, B&M staff have supported in raising vital funds, with more fundraising planned for the next year. The work that Little Hearts Matter do is fantastic and the support and services that they offer is one of a kind. We are proud to support the charity in whatever way we can.”
Ian Carr, Fundraising and Marketing Manager said, “We hugely appreciate the continued support we’ve had from B&M Waste Services. Without donations like this one, we simply cannot provide the level of support to families when they need it most. Thank you.”
