The VOX Conference Venue at Resorts World hosts The Birmingham PA Awards

The VOX Conference Venue at Resorts World played host to The Birmingham PA Awards, an awards night dedicated to celebrating the outstanding work and achievements of over 300 hardworking Executive, Personal and Virtual Assistants from all over the West Midlands.

On Friday 19th July, The VOX Conference Venue at Resorts World played host to The Birmingham PA Awards, an awards night dedicated to celebrating the outstanding work and achievements of over 300 hardworking Executive, Personal and Virtual Assistants from all over the West  Midlands.

Throughout the evening there was an array of live entertainment from Elegant Entertainment along with the charm and enthusiasm of West Midlands Fireman and Host Adam Joyce.

The night offered a huge celebration for each of the nominees, and we are delighted to share with you the following winners:

Newcomer of the Year: Emily Morris (Royal Life Saving Society)

Technology Champion of the Year: Hannah Walsh (Oxygen Finance Ltd)

Corporate & Social Responsibly Champion: Chesca Simmons (Galliford Try)

Independent Virtual Assistant of the Year: Helen Martin (Aggrandise VA Ltd)

Lead by Example Award: Angela Croad (Higgs & Sons Solicitors)

Event Organiser of the Year: Kelly Pluff (Resorts World) & Elliott Packham (University of Birmingham Guild of Students)

Team of the Year: Aston University Workplace Choir

Birmingham PA of the Year: Fiona Mucklow (Eversheds Sutherland)

Speaking after the awards, Daniel commented: “Some may say that the sign of a good administrator is that she (or he) goes unnoticed as Business Support professionals generally have a calm professionalism to deal with a ferocious workload in a demanding environment which is a much sought-after skill set and yet this is so rarely celebrated, particularly on an external stage.  The Birmingham PA Awards are such an important way to recognise the qualities, skills and dedication so many administrators bring to companies across the region and I am delighted with the support shown this evening for the fabulous work these professionals do.”

Getting to the finals of The Birmingham PA Awards, now in its second year, is no easy ride.  To start with a nomination to one of the Awards’ eight categories is required – and in a profession where the nominees would usually be the people to draft such things, getting a busy Executive to find time to do this is, in itself, no mean feat!  After nomination, a telephone interview must be successfully negotiated with the Birmingham PA Awards committee members and then the finalists move on to be met by some of the leading industry experts, Angela Mortimer (representing headline sponsor Katie Bard), Andrew Jardine (General Manager, Institute of Administrative Management), Chris Peacock (Conference Care) and Fay Gleeson (EA at SCC and 2018 PA of the Year).

We were delighted to have the supported Love Brum and Sir Josiah Mason Trust as our chosen charity partners for the evening and are so grateful for the support of all our partners and sponsors Katie Bard, Conference Care, Egencia, Executive Secretary Magazine, Helpdesk Communications, Ashorne Hill, CMA Video, Indigo Sky Solutions, ORS UK, PA Show, The Partnership Collection, Eventologists and SCC

The Awards night is a culmination of all of the networking, learning and development opportunities for administrative professionals across the West Midlands region Birmingham PA Forum offers, alongside its flagship L&D event, the PA Forum Conference, the second of which will take place at Conference Aston from 1st to 2nd October 2019.

Applications for the newly rebranded West Midlands PA Awards 2020 will be launched on 1st October 2019.
