Santa and his elves skate into Lotherton to officially open The Christmas Experience

Christmas has well and truly arrived at popular Yorkshire attraction Lotherton.

Christmas has well and truly arrived at popular Yorkshire attraction Lotherton, with Santa and his elves getting their skates on to mark the grand opening on Friday 22 November.

Everyone’s favourite festive figure took to the ice, accompanied by skaters from Bradford Ice Arena, to officially open this year’s Christmas Experience and to let the people of Yorkshire know he has taken up residence at his new ho-ho-home.

From 22 November 2019 to 5 January 2020, families can enjoy a Christmas day out like no other, embarking on adventures with fairies, elves and, of course, Santa himself at the popular country estate on the edge of Leeds.

As well as these family favourites, this year’s frosty new addition of a 596 square metre ice-rink is proving popular, with visitors set to enjoy a frozen fairytale on the ice.

Cllr Judith Blake, Leader of Leeds City Council, said: “We’re delighted to share the news that Santa and his elves have skated into this year’s Christmas Experience and are ready and waiting to meet the region’s families.

“This time of year is always magical at Lotherton and we can’t wait to welcome people from across Yorkshire and beyond. The house is dressed in all its Edwardian finery, the carols are being sung and the Elf Village is sparkling with a hint of festive magic, we’ve also heard the fairies in the Dell are putting on a spectacular show this year. With the arrival of Santa, it’s all set to be a fantastic day out for all the family.”

The Christmas Experience will include seasonal favourites such as the Elf Village, the Enchanted Fairy Dell and the Twelve Days of Christmas Woodland Walk.

Exploring the house will transport visitors back in time, as they enjoy each room decked out in the traditional festive finery of an Edwardian Christmas.

And, of course, after testing out the ice, Santa has taken up residence in his very own North Pole, where little ones can help the elves in their workshop before visiting the man himself to share their festive wishes.

While Santa’s weekend diary is almost fully booked, there is still good availability on weekdays and evenings.

The Christmas Experience opens today, 22 November, and is run by Lotherton and Breeze. Tickets are available now, with a number of visit options, pre-booking is recommended.
