Hundreds of Festive Fundraisers Get into Seasonal Spirit by Supporting Children’s Charity

Birmingham’s Millennium Point was transformed into a magical Christmas scene on Saturday 7th December as hundreds of Santas showed their support for Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Good boys and girls (of all ages) braved the cold and suited up for the charity’s annual Acorns Santa Run.

The seasonal spectacular, which included a 2km dash and a festive family trail, was held to raise money for Acorns and its vital work caring children and young people with life limiting and life threatening conditions.

Rachel Farrington, Acorns Events Officer, said: “What an amazing day! It was the perfect way kick start the festive season – the atmosphere was magical. Seeing so many Santas and little Elves dashing around Millennium Point for Acorns was fantastic.

“A big thank you to everyone who took part in Acorns Santa Run and raised sponsorship. Your incredible efforts will help us continue providing our vital care and support for families who need us.”

Acorns Children’s Hospice provides specialist palliative care for children and young people with life limiting and life threatening conditions as well as support for their families.

In the past year, the charity has cared for more than 780 children across Birmingham and the West Midlands, and supported over 1,220 families, including those who are bereaved.

It costs Acorns £27,000 to provide its care and support services and the charity relies on generous donations and fundraising by the local community for the majority of this amount.
