Liverpool company becomes only North West-based firm to be added to the Government’s list of approved Covid-19 test providers

BioGrad Diagnostics, based at Liverpool Science Park, has become the only North West-based company to be added by The Department of Health and Social Care to its list of non-NHS providers who may be able to conduct tests for the presence of coronavirus.

BioGrad Diagnostics, based at Liverpool Science Park, has become the only North West-based company to be added by The Department of Health and Social Care to its list of non-NHS providers who may be able to conduct tests for the presence of coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2).

The list includes only companies that meet the Government’s required standards for private sector providers of general Covid-19 testing, with the majority being based in the south. Listed providers must also be reviewed by UKAS, the UK’s National Accreditation Body, responsible for determining the technical competence and integrity of organisations such as those offering testing, calibration and certification services.

BioGrad Diagnostics is pioneering the way in the global fight against Covid-19, providing a responsive and dynamic antigen and antibody testing facility, and supplying over 200,000 Covid tests in Liverpool since the first lockdown in March. BioGrad also recently opened new testing clinics in Shrewsbury and Manchester to meet the growing demand of its clients.

Dr Natalie Kenny, CEO of BioGrad Diagnostics, said:

“I am really proud that we have been added to the Government’s approved list of private providers in Covid-19 testing. This is testimony to the strength and commitment of the leadership and the team here at BioGrad and our mission that everyone should have access to gold standard healthcare and education.”

First and foremost a laboratory-based learning provider, BioGrad created its Diagnostics arm during the first lockdown, when it realised it had the scientists, equipment and laboratory space available to help keep schools and businesses open across the UK with the provision of regular, fast, and accurate Covid-19 testing, at the cost of delivering it.

Anyone who requires a Covid-19 test can arrange to be tested by visiting the website.
