Solihull ride-hailing business drives recruitment ahead of National Apprenticeship Week

Solihull-based business, UVA UK has kickstarted a recruitment drive and created 10 new job roles for aspiring apprenticeships and young people across the region to support local employment and emerging talent.

A Solihull-based business has kickstarted a recruitment drive and created 10 new job roles for aspiring apprenticeships and young people across the region to support local employment and emerging talent.

UVA UK is set to launch its new app-based ride-hailing service in Birmingham in early 2021, alongside several other UK cities, and is now on the hunt for five apprentices to help drive the start-up’s growth ambitions and shape the business. The diverse range of new roles spans team leaders, business administration and digital marketing.

The recruitment drive coincides with this year’s National Apprenticeship Week (8th – 14th February). In its 14th year, the annual celebration will shine a spotlight on the outstanding work being done by apprentices and employers across the country to future-proof and develop the nation’s workforce.

The new apprentices, which will be appointed by the end of February, will be taking on an 18-month programme to develop their skills, increase their confidence and work towards their apprenticeship qualifications with support from UVA and training provider, Remit Group.

Alongside this commitment, UVA has created five additional roles as part of the Government’s Kickstart Scheme, which aims to create new job placements for young people between the ages of 16 – 25 on either Universal Credit or at risk of long-term unemployment.

These roles will cover various business functions from recruitment, customer operations and service, marketing and IT. During the placements, candidates will take part in masterclasses with leading industry business partners, receive a recognised qualification on completion and have the opportunity to be appointed by UVA full time.

Ayesha Rees, CEO of UVA UK, said: “The creation of these new roles is a vital part of our commitment to giving back to the local community and nurturing local young talent across the region.

“We felt a sense of responsibility to create these opportunities to make sure that emerging young talent doesn’t slip through the net, which is now more important than ever. We want to make sure that candidates get the fullest and best experience they can when placed with us so they become well-rounded, confident young people, equipped with the skills they need for the next stages of their career.”
