Sedulo Group – one of the UK’s fastest-growing business advisory firms – has appointed Ross Preston as Head of Audit – North, based in its Leeds office.
Ross joins from AAB where he was Head of Audit for North of England, after training at PwC and spending time at other top tier firms including Deloitte and Mazars.
His arrival follows a number of notable client wins for Sedulo’s audit team, including Visual Data, Alt Group and Plastech who have joined the likes of Leeds Rhinos in using the firm as their auditor.
The appointment comes as Sedulo close in on £25m of turnover in 2025, marking a 30% year-on-year growth since 2023 and putting the firm on course to hit revenues of £30m by 2026. This would see them break into the UK’s Top 40 accountancy firms and become one of the largest boutique, independently-owned advisory firms in the country.
Ross’ appointment further bolsters Sedulo’s Northern audit operations and the firm’s service to clients across Yorkshire and the North. With more than 15 years’ senior experience in audit, accounting, and financial control, Ross is an ICAS qualified accountant, a registered Responsible Individual (RI), and has worked with organisations ranging from global listed enterprises to regional owner-managed businesses and charities.
His career spans top-tier professional services firms and in-industry leadership, including two years as Group Financial Controller for a £200m turnover group. His sector expertise includes manufacturing, construction, retail, infrastructure and education, with a particular passion for supporting family-owned and entrepreneurial businesses as well as not-for-profit organisations.
Sedulo’s Leeds office currently has 40 advisors and revenues of circa £5m. It offers services in Audit, Accountancy, Corporate Finance, Transaction Services, Wealth Planning, Tax Advisory, Funding, and Tax Relief.
Paul Cheetham-Karcz, Founder of Sedulo Group, said:
“Ross’s appointment strengthens our leadership in the North and enhances our audit capabilities at a crucial stage in our growth. He brings a rare blend of technical excellence, commercial understanding, and sector breadth, having worked both in practice and in industry. This very much aligns with our obsession to deliver world-class service, locally.
“This is another step towards our goal of becoming the best independent boutique advisory firm in the UK, and it won’t be the last as we have more exciting appointments arriving in the very near future.”
On his arrival, Ross Preston said:
“Sedulo is a business with real momentum and ambition, and I’m excited to be part of that journey.
“I’m passionate about working with organisations where tailored advice can truly move the dial – particularly privately and family-owned businesses as well as charitable organisations – and I’m looking forward to helping our clients across the North achieve their goals.”
