Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks announce Gdansk as brand-new Christmas Market destination for Winter 24/25 from Birmingham Airport

Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks are announcing good news for next winter, with the launch of a brand-new Christmas Market destination – Gdansk.

Following a significant expansion to their Winter 24/25 Christmas Markets programme from Birmingham Airport just a few weeks ago, Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks are announcing further good news for next winter, with the launch of a brand-new Christmas Market destination – Gdansk.

The leading leisure airline and UK’s largest operator of European city breaks are continuing to respond to exceptional demand from customers in the Midlands looking to explore some of the most magical destinations in Europe throughout the festive season, and have now launched festive flights and city breaks to Gdansk in Poland for the first time from Birmingham Airport in response.

Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks will operate scheduled services and dedicated trips to Gdansk from Birmingham Airport from 29th November to 23rd December 2024. Two weekly services (Monday and Friday) will operate from the airport during this time, giving customers and independent travel agents plenty of choice and flexibility when it comes to enjoying an authentic festive experience over the Christmas season to the Polish city.

The Gdansk Christmas Market is considered one of the most beautiful Christmas Markets in Europe, and from November the Targ Węglowy area transforms into a winter wonderland with fairy tale illuminations, fairground attractions, a food zone, handmade gifts and local delicacies, and live artistic events. With a short flight time of just over two hours, the compact city, which was voted the 2nd best Christmas Market destination in Europe*, offers a picturesque and historic festive experience. As well as boasting a beautiful Christmas Market, Gdansk offers many other attractions, including the Museum of the Second World War, Gdansk Old Town, and the Dlugi Targ (Long Market), and city’s waterfront location and extensive history means there is plenty to see and do.

As a result of this most recent expansion, Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks will operate to six Christmas Market destinations from Birmingham Airport for Winter 24/25 – Gdansk, Cologne, Budapest, Krakow, Vienna and Prague. The airline and tour operator’s Christmas Markets programme from Birmingham Airport for next winter is their biggest to date, with more choice and destinations on sale than ever before.

This latest announcement comes just weeks after Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks put additional services on sale to Budapest and brought forward the start of the season to Cologne by introducing more flights and city breaks to the festive favourite.

When travelling to Gdansk for a Christmas Market break, customers can choose from a flight-only option with leading leisure airline, Jet2.com, or an ATOL protected package holiday with Jet2CityBreaks available for a low £60 per person deposit.

Package options with Jet2CityBreaks include return flights with Jet2.com including 22kg free hold luggage and 10kg of free cabin baggage, as well as a choice of hotels in central locations, providing the perfect base from which to explore and experience the best Christmas Market destinations in Europe.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “There is a huge amount of demand for Christmas Market breaks from customers and independent travel agents, so we are delighted to announce the launch of Christmas Market flights and trips to Gdansk for Winter 24/25 for the first time from Birmingham Airport. Gdansk is a fantastic Christmas Market destination, and we are expecting these new flights and city breaks to be extremely popular with holidaymakers in the Midlands.

“This latest announcement for our Winter 24/25 Christmas Markets programme from Birmingham Airport follows the recent news that we have put more festive services on sale to Budapest from the airport and extended the Christmas Market season to Cologne too. By continually responding to demand, we are listening to our customers and independent travel agent partners in the region and delivering exactly want they want. As the UK’s largest operator of European city breaks, our selection of Christmas Market breaks for next winter from Birmingham Airport offers fantastic choice and flexibility, and we are anticipating a very successful Winter 24/25 season.”

Tom Screen, Aviation Director, from Birmingham Airport said: “It is never too early to plan for Christmas and to experience the beauty of our European cities during the winter season.  With convenient flight times and schedules, a long weekend is a perfect mini break.  With Gdansk now on sale to our customers, the only direct service from Birmingham Airport, this adds to Jet2CityBreaks’ existing routes of Cologne, Budapest, Krakow, Vienna and Prague for Winter 24/25.”
