about the event

Downtown in Business will host an exclusive lunch forum on Wednesday 2nd November with CEO of Holden Media and NRB Manchester, Thom Hetherington, Director for Town Centre and Consumer Brands at Bruntwood Works, Andrea George, and Lead for UKI Smart and Sustainable Environments at Cisco, Simon Light, focussing on hospitality, retail and placemaking.

With both sectors hugely impacted over the past couple of years this session will reflect on current challengers but look at how we can evolve with technology, customer service and engagement to ensure the sectors not only survive but thrive in the future.

About the speakers:

Thom Hetherington co-founded the PPA award-winning Restaurant magazine and the 50 Best Restaurants in the World Awards, and is a commentator, consultant and writer on food, drink, art and culture in the North of England. As CEO of Holden Media, he has created a portfolio of world class Northern events and platforms, including the NRB exhibition, The NRB Top 50 awards, and much more.

Andrea George is Director for Town Centre and Consumer Brands at Bruntwood Works. She leads a dynamic team of creative thinkers, curating places to help shape original and interesting communities and cultivating long-term relationships with customers. Future-facing, she is passionate about disrupting the high street, sustainability and regenerating places. With over 25years in the industry, Andrea provides strategic, specialist asset management and leasing experience, to evolving places, town centres and consumer brands.

Simon Light is the UKI Lead for Smart and Sustainable environments at Cisco. His expertise in driving smart building strategies globally helps organisations create smarter environments, and a clearer path to planning a more sustainable future. Simon worked very closely with the retail and hospitality customers to align technology investments and help them build a platform-based approach for their future goals and business outcomes; this means maintaining a smart- long term strategy, and allowing flexibility in the future by saving costs today.
