DIB host first event of 2023 with Manchester Airport’s Andrew Clarke

DIB were delighted to be joined by Head of Corporate Affairs, Andrew Clarke, for our first event of 2023.

This week, Downtown in Business hosted its first event of 2023. We were delighted to be joined by Head of Corporate Affairs at Manchester Airport, Andrew Clarke, for an exclusive roundtable lunch at Piccolino Caffe Grande, Manchester City Centre.

Chaired by Downtown Managing Director Chris McKenna, Andrew discussed the difficulties that the airport experienced last year and how the airport has overcome these issues, as well as giving an honest assessment of the upcoming challenges that the aviation industry will face over the next twelve months.

Furthermore, Andrew gave delegates an update on the airport’s plans for 2023 and progress on their 2038 net zero plan.

DIB Sales Director David Matthews commented, “This was a great event to start 2023. Given that the aviation industry has had an extremely challenging few years, it is important that we encourage open discussions and collaboration between the airport and businesses from across the region. It is great to hear the long term plan that the airport has and how it will help boost the economy of not only Manchester, but the North West region as a whole.”

It was fantastic to hear from business leaders around the room on the importance of international connectivity for Manchester and the North of the UK, and the relevance of HS2 and domestic transport also.

Our next transport focussed event will take place in Birmingham on Monday 23rd January where we will be joined by key figures from Manchester City Council and Birmingham City Council to discuss HS2 and why it is vital the the UK economy. Find out more here.
