Bring a pound to work and make a difference for Woodlands Hospice

Local businesses rally together to support Woodlands Hospice's 'Bring a Pound to Work Day' on Friday 3rd March 2023.

Woodlands Hospice has called for local businesses and community groups to join their Bring a Pound to Work Day, taking place on Friday 3rd March. The idea is simple, to encourage employees, customers, group members or teams to each donate £1 and collectively raise thousands of pounds to support the work of this local charity.

The Aintree-based hospice is a purpose built facility where people receive specialist palliative care and support. The charity also extends this support to the families and loved ones of their patients.

Many local businesses have pledged their support to the Bring a Pound to Work Day, including local businessman, Dave Seed. Dave is the Managing Director of North West based company Qube Residential, a highly professional lettings service and property management company in Liverpool and nationwide. He is also the owner of popular café, Dapa Coffee, based in Formby.

Dave was delighted to sign up both his businesses to support Woodlands Hospice’s Bring a Pound to Work Day this year after he and his family experienced the care of the hospice first-hand. Dave’s Father-in-Law, Stephen Martin, was placed under the hospice’s care in 2016.

Dave said, “It was such a difficult time for us a family but I always remember the end of life care he received. The staff were all so nice and caring and we were all supported to the end. It left a lasting impression on me. If I ever do anything for a charitable cause now, I always try to support the hospice.”

Dave held his own charitable white collar boxing event shortly after his Father-in-Law passed away which raised over £2000for the hospice and, alongside his wife and Stephen’s daughter, Stef, they placed an engraved gold lead in tribute to Stephen on the hospice’s Tree of Life, which is displayed in their reception area.

Paula Parle, Community Fundraising Manager at the hospice said, “Following the success of Bring a Pound to Work 2022, we’re thrilled to return for 2023 with the support of local businesses and community groups, including Dave and Qube Residential and Dapa.

Our Bring a Pound a Work event is a simple idea that allows people to be as creative as they wish! Many will simply ask to pop a pound in a collection tin but we also have some businesses hosting bake sales, dress down and other fun activities to encourage people to get involved.”

Paula added, “This event is about harnessing the power of our community. We ask for just £1 from each individual but together our pounds make a huge difference! Our last Bring a Pound to Work Day raised a total of £6000. We’re hoping to achieve more than that this year as every penny goes towards supporting the incredible work of the hospice.”
