Reactions to the King’s Speech at the State Opening of Parliament:

Following yesterday's state opening of parliament, Sean Keyes, CEO of Sutcliffe and Simon Harris, CEO of Avrenim share their reactions to the King’s Speech.

Sean Keyes, CEO, of Sutcliffe:

“I was delighted to see the King’s Speech outlined the new Labour government’s strategy to achieve its target of building 1.5m houses. Chancellor Rachel Reeves’ plans to overhaul the planning system and reintroduce mandatory housing targets promise to significantly bolster the nation’s capacity to build more high-quality homes and transform living standards for hundreds of thousands of people, ensuring that everyone has access to good, quality housing as a fundamental standard.”

Simon Harris, CEO, of Avrenim:

“One of the key policies at the core of Labour’s manifesto aimed to establish a framework that would enable the UK to achieve its ambition of becoming a leading clean energy superpower. With King Charles as a staunch advocate for addressing the climate crisis and championing the green agenda, I am optimistic that the facilities management sector can work with the government to advance the pursuit of net zero throughout the next parliament.”
