Nugent calls on North West businesses to stand with care leavers and people facing homelessness

North West charity Nugent is calling on businesses and individuals across the region to join a growing movement to ensure that care leavers and people facing homelessness have somewhere to go and someone to turn to when they need it most.

North West charity Nugent is calling on businesses and individuals across the region to join a growing movement to ensure that care leavers and people facing homelessness have somewhere to go and someone to turn to when they need it most.

As part of that ambition, Nugent is inviting DIB members, their colleagues, families and wider networks to take part in Nugent Sleep Out 2026, taking place on Thursday 24 September 2026 at The Reader, Calderstones Park, proudly sponsored by Krol Corlett Construction.

The annual Sleep Out is about much more than spending one night outdoors. It aims to shine a light on the different faces of homelessness and hardship across our communities.

Homelessness is not limited to the people we see sleeping on our streets. It can be a young person leaving care at 18 without a support network or a safe place to call home. It can be a family whose children have no beds to sleep in, or someone moving from the streets into an empty property without basic furniture, cooking equipment or washing facilities.

Every week, Nugent hears from people facing these realities, including those forced to choose between paying essential bills and putting food on the table.

Nugent wants to change that.

Its vision is to create a lifelong pathway of support for individuals and communities in need – building a North West where vulnerable young people and adults know there is somewhere they can go and someone they can turn to.

Nugent Sleep Out 2026 is an opportunity for the region’s business community to become part of that movement.

Every pound raised helps Nugent provide the stability, opportunities and practical support that can change lives. But Nugent is also keen to start wider conversations with businesses about how they can become involved beyond one night – whether through fundraising, sponsorship, volunteering, sharing expertise, creating opportunities or developing longer-term partnerships.

Nugent is encouraging DIB members to take part individually, enter a team with colleagues, involve friends and family, sponsor the event or make a donation. Businesses unable to participate on the night can still support the campaign by sharing it with their employees, customers and networks.

Nugent hopes to make the 2026 Sleep Out its biggest yet – but, more importantly, to use it as a catalyst for greater collaboration across the North West.

Because no young person leaving care, and no individual facing crisis, should feel that they have nowhere to go and no one to turn to. For any queries please contact ainsley.briscoe@wearenugent.org
