Leaders Lunch with Asif Hamid MBE and Mark Basnett

Downtown Liverpool were proud to host their first event of 2022 at the spectacular Neighbourhood Liverpool restaurant.

For Downtown’s first Liverpool event of the year, we were joined by Chair of Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership, Asif Hamid MBE, and Managing Director of the Growth Platform, Mark Basnett for an exclusive ‘Leaders Lunch’. Chaired by DIB’s Frank McKenna, the topic of discussion focused on the upcoming developments and projects of the Liverpool City Region.

Mark discussed how the Growth Hub was established three years ago and focuses on the six areas within Liverpool City Region and their developments. In terms of the Liverpool City Region, Mark emphasised on the importance of focusing on the region as a whole and not just the city centre.

Downtown in Business CEO and Chairman, Frank McKenna, discussed during the lunch that would strongly advise struggling businesses to contact growth hub.

Asif spoke about his role of being Chairman of the Liverpool LEP and the effects that the pandemic has had on the Liverpool City region and how businesses in the city need to come together in coming times in order to improve the city on not just a national scale but an international scale.

Throughout the questions and comments section of the leaders lunch Faye Dyer, Managing Director at the ACC Liverpool Group, discussed how the arena is playing a crucial part in the regrowth of the city post pandemic with upcoming national and international events, such as the national Labour party conference and the world gymnastics championships.

We were delighted to bring together some familiar faces from across the Liverpool region as well as some new members and prospects for a fantastic and thought-provoking event.

Rebecca Beglin, Business Development Manager at Neighbourhood Liverpool said that; “Neighbourhood represents the work hard, play hard of the city and it’s good to have a business event that supports this as the venue is perfect for all occasions. Having Downtown in Business here today along with Liverpool’s finest leaders shows the versatility of the venue.

Thank you to Begbies Traynor for sponsoring the event and thank you so much Rebecca Beglin and the Neighbourhood team for having us!”

Our next Liverpool event will be about business exit strategies with Glenville Walker. Have a look at our upcoming events and register at: https://downtowninbusiness.com/events/
