The chair of the West Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership, Sir Roger Marsh, was the keynote speaker at an exclusive DIB Leeds dinner last week.
Sir Roger, who also chairs the powerful NP11 – the LEPs from across the Northern Powerhouse – spoke about the challenges and opportunities facing Leeds, and the wider north.
Despite the COVID crisis and the Ukraine conflict, the LEP boss was optimistic about the economy and the regions contribution to UK PLC.
“We have to stop asking, or being seen to be asking, for hand- outs. The north can be a net contributor to GDP, and we are part of the solution for this country, not part of the problem.”
The event was hosted in the private dining room of Fazenda restaurant in Leeds.
