NOVID now launched across the UK and in Cork International Airport

However, the team behind NOVID have launched a groundbreaking way to help us take extra precautions in order to slow the spread of COVID-19.

During these difficult and challenging times, we are all hoping that help is on its way to eradicate a virus that has now become a big part of our daily lives. From curfews and the wearing of masks to track and trace – COVID-19 is in nearly every country the world over.

However, the team behind NOVID have launched a groundbreaking way to help us take extra precautions in order to slow the spread of COVID-19. On Friday 2nd October they demonstrated the range of Coronavirus (SARS-COV-2 ) sanitisation solutions. Including bespoke design, build and manage solutions, handheld fogging machines, sanitisation booths, and temperature monitoring systems.

Press, from local and national to international, were shown various models in operation.NOVID have created a  fully certified range of single and multi-person sanitisation booths which deliver a solution which is 100% biodegradable, environmentally-friendly and safe for use by the general public.

We are all aware and well-versed in how we can help individually. Proper hand hygiene through the use of soap and water, as well as the use of masks, together with social distancing all remain important lines of defence against the virus, as well as isolating if we become concerned we have symptoms of the illness, or have been in contact with someone who has.

However, while we are waiting for a vaccine, NOVID’s CE and TUV-certified systems that can be placed outside of a venue, whether it be a workplace or sporting event, where people are entering or gathering at a distance before admittance. In other words, it is a way of helping to introduce collective action, as we know that even if we employ our own individual preventative measures, preliminary information about COVID-19 suggests the virus can survive from a few hours up to a few days on surfaces.

One new place that NOVID has been installed is in Cork International Airport, the second biggest airport in Ireland.  Cork Airport’s Operations Manager, Eamon O’Donovan said: ‘’The safety of passengers and staff is our number one priority at Cork Airport. The trialling of this NOVID booth will provide an additional safety measure to give passengers reassurance that we have taken every precaution to restore confidence in air travel. The non-toxic disinfectant used is 100% biodegradable, non-flammable, odourless, water-based, environmentally-friendly and safe and conforms to ISO 9001 Certification,” he added.

The project was overseen by Daren Quinn AMRAeS, Partner – Aviation Events Group, working in tandem with the Cork Airport Operations Team.

Last month, Cork International Airport became the first airport on the island of Ireland to be accredited with Airports Council International (ACI) World and ACI EUROPE’s new Airport Health Accreditation programme.

ACI’s Airport Health Accreditation programme assists airports by assessing new health measures and procedures introduced as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in accordance with ICAO Council Aviation Recovery Task Force recommendations and in alignment with the joint EASA and ECDC Aviation Health Safety Protocol and ACI EUROPE’s Guidelines for a Healthy Passenger Experience at Airports.

NOVID is a walk-through Fogging Device, designed to eliminate any prospect of COVID-19 not just on the person walking through it, but also on the clothing they are wearing, too. It takes just a few seconds to walk through, and is a timely solution as an added, extra insurance when businesses and venues really require some safety assistance, to ensure that once inside, the environment is virus-free.

Director Tony Sheedy said “We are absolutely delighted with the response from the public and especially business in the north of England following the launch of our spray booths in Liverpool earlier in the month. The TV and radio coverage was excellent and this was complemented by the numerous articles in national and local newspapers. Among the hundreds of comments we have received is a theme of how people feel safer having passed through our spray booths. There is a great sense of satisfaction to know that our products are now actively reducing the community spread of this virus. ”

Fellow Director Gerry Brown added “It was first created in 2019 for a different initial use, but once COVID-19 hit, we realised that with some alterations we could deliver a walk-though sanitisation solution that could provide either a single or multi-booth installation. Once fitted at the site of choice by our expert team, they are ready to go. The light spray delivered is proven to be 99.999% effective against all enveloped viruses, including COVID-19, and also influenza and norovirus, which become increasingly common at this time of year. Anyone who walks through will feel comfortable and there is no residue.”

The NOVID sanitation booths are now used in a range of sites from mosques to shopping centres across the UK.
