Downtown in Business, in association with Sedulo Group and VSI executive Education, will host its inaugural ‘Business of Sport’ conference on Thursday 7th September at the iconic Lancashire Cricket Club, Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester.
The event will feature presentations from leading personalities and officials from a diverse range of sports including football, rugby, cricket, athletics, and tennis.
There will also be a focus on the economic impact of sport on cities; the legacy of major events such as the Olympics, the Euro Championships, and the Commonwealth Games, and the regeneration benefits of new stadia, such as the London Stadium, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and Everton’s Bramley Moore Dock development.
The Group chairman and chief executive of DIB said:
“The sports industry is worth north of £30billion to the UK economy. The Premier League is one of, if not the, most successful exported UK product. And we are all aware of the significant wealth that has been created for brands and talented individuals within many sports; and the positive economic impact sporting events can have on a place.
“Nevertheless, there are losers in sport too and this conference will be discussing and debating not just the hugely successful business models and personalities, but the ‘Cinderella’ sports that struggle.
“We have some big names lined up to speak at the event, and I am delighted that Sedulo Group and VSI Executive Education, companies with a reputation for working with major sporting brands and talented sportsmen and women, have agreed to sponsor and support what I know will be a cracking conference.”
