On Wednesday 6th May 2026 Downtown in Business were delighted to host our Leaders Lunch with Simon Delahunty-Forrest, Director of Planning and Development at Birmingham City Council, at the wonderful Unique Venues Birmingham.
Bringing together senior business leaders and key stakeholders, the event provided a timely platform for open and informed discussion on the eve of the local elections. Conversation centred on Birmingham’s regeneration journey, the city’s economic growth ambitions, and the opportunities ahead for investors and developers looking to play a role in shaping Britain’s second city.
A key focus of the discussion was the proposed West Midlands Mayoral Development Corporation, highlighting a new planning and delivery model for Birmingham’s growth.
Simon offered valuable insight into the council’s priorities, the challenges facing the built environment, and how stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors can unlock future growth.
