Downtown is Twenty – Jayne Moore

As Downtown celebrates its twentieth year in business in 2023, we have asked people from across the DIB network, old and new, to offer their thoughts, reflections, and memories of the ‘business club with attitude’.

This week, Liverpool Marketing and PR master, Jayne Moore reflects on 20 years of Downtown.

Returning to Liverpool in 2002, never would I have imagined that 20 years on I would have a thriving Marketing and PR agency in the City, employing 15 of the best experts you could wish to work with.

Frank jokes about it every time, as he reminds me of the dark days, before Moore Media when I had vowed to never have staff again! In the challenging times Downtown stood by me, protected me and pushed me forward in a way that no other networking group would or could. Let’s not forget during Lockdown how Frank’s face on Zoom brought us together and kept us focused. Returning to the crazy days of Livercool and COLBA bringing us all back together in a cocktail shaker, mixing up a city’s renaissance.

I have so much to be grateful to Downtown in Business for, the multiple award wins, the afterparties, the great mates and even greater business contacts that helped shape who we are today. Frank and his team have come a long way from Sexy Networking and the images of Frank with a bevy of business card-thrusting beauties at his elbow, doing his best James Bond pout. And who can forget the now famous videos of Frank in full Freddie Mercury – performing with a vacuum cleaner as he Wanted to Break Free at Parr Street Studios! Lots of brilliant memories, and many more adventures, glasses of wine and inspiring conversations with like-minded business owners and leaders who are getting stuck into making a difference for our City Region and beyond.

That is what is uniquely Downtown, I will raise a glass of Woodford Reserve to both of our continued successes as we celebrate 10 years as you mark your 20th! Happy Birthday Frank and everyone who makes Downtown in Business – The business club with attitude!
