about the event

The current government made a promise to ‘level up’ to address regional inequality but two years on, what does it mean? With news HS2 in the North being put on hold and ‘The Northern Powerhouse’ brand seemingly dead, is it just all hot air from central government; or with the newly created ‘levelling up’ taskforce and Liverpool being governments city of choice for mass testing and live event’s, does this offer opportunity for Steve Rotheram and Liverpool City Region?

During the session we will be discussing some key points including:

  • Where does NP go next – should northerners control the north’s destiny rather than waiting for London?
  • How can we reshape / refocus it to leverage the investment we need to realise our full potential
  • How can we use this collective lobbying to our advantage
  • What would a ‘northern ask’ to Government look like and what do we need to put in place to secure it

We would value your attendance and contribution to this discussion, which is one in a three-part series of events taking place across the North in which Downtown in Business and Avison Young will be producing a white paper to be presented and discussed at a Westminster event in 2022.
