New national awards ceremony will celebrate the people, businesses and places powering Britain’s future
Downtown in Business (DIB) has announced plans to launch a prestigious new national business awards ceremony in London in June 2027, bringing together some of the UK’s most influential entrepreneurs, business leaders, investors and decision-makers for an exclusive gala dinner at the iconic One Great George Street in Westminster.
The inaugural Downtown National Business Awards will celebrate outstanding achievement across Britain’s business community, recognising the individuals, organisations and partnerships that are driving innovation, attracting investment, creating jobs and transforming the economic fortunes of towns, cities and regions across the country.
Building on DIB’s established reputation for delivering high-profile business events and awards programmes across the UK, the new national celebration will provide a platform to recognise excellence on a bigger stage, while creating opportunities for business leaders from different sectors and regions to connect, collaborate and develop new relationships.
With just 200 guests expected to attend, the black-tie event will offer an intimate and prestigious setting, combining national recognition with the high-quality networking, influential connections and distinctive atmosphere for which Downtown in Business has become renowned.
DIB Group chair and chief executive Frank McKenna said:
“We have been celebrating business success across the UK’s great cities and regions for many years, and we believe the time is right to bring that celebration together on a national stage.
“Britain has an extraordinary wealth of entrepreneurial talent, innovative businesses, ambitious investors and inspirational leaders. Too often, however, the contribution made by businesses outside London doesn’t receive the national recognition it deserves.
“These awards will help change that. We want to celebrate the people who are making things happen, creating opportunities, driving investment and making a real difference to the places in which they operate.
“Of course, this will be a fantastic evening of celebration, but in true Downtown fashion, it will also be about bringing influential people together, creating new connections and opening doors to future opportunities.
“One Great George Street provides a magnificent setting for what we intend to establish as one of the most sought-after dates in the UK business calendar.”
The awards will recognise achievement across a range of business disciplines, with particular emphasis on entrepreneurship, leadership, innovation, investment, regeneration and collaboration between the public and private sectors.
