Leaders Lunch with Nuala Gallagher & Marion Atkinson

On Tuesday 23rd September 2025, Downtown in Business will host a roundtable lunch event with the Corporate Director of City Development at Liverpool City Council, Nuala Gallagher and Leader of Sefton Council, Marion Atkinson.

Nuala Gallagher took on the role of Corporate Director of City Development at Liverpool City Council in March 2023. She has more than two decades of international experience in development and placemaking. Her previous roles include Head of Regeneration for the London Borough of Newham, Director for Economy of Place at Bristol City Council, Director of City Centre Development at Belfast City Council, and most recently, Director of Planning Environment and Placemaking at Limerick City and County Council. Her new role will focus on driving Liverpool’s economic growth and delivering sustainable development across the city centre and communities.

Marion Atkinson was chosen as the first female leader of Sefton Borough Council in 2024. Marion took over the role from Cllr Ian Maher, who had lead the council since 2015. She has served on the council since 2011, serving the Molyneux Ward and is the niece of Bootle MP Peter Dowd.
