Bowker MINI Backs UK Mission to Become an Officially Dog-Friendly Car Retailer with International Dog Day Celebration

Bowker MINI, with centres in Blackburn and Preston, picked a perfect pack of Prestonian personnel’s pooches to celebrate this year’s International Dog Day.

Bowker MINI, with centres in Blackburn and Preston, picked a perfect pack of Prestonian personnel’s pooches to celebrate this year’s International Dog Day on Thursday 26th August.

The herded hounds were also on site to celebrate the new national link up between MINI UK and the Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity. The partnership heralds a new even-more dog-friendly welcome at the Bowker MINI centres in Blackburn and Preston.

MINI UK’s mission to help dogs travel happier across the nation will see Bowker MINI joining other centres to become the first officially dog-friendly car retailer by 2022.

The mission means that fun-seeking furry frequenters will discover a new range of desirable doggy equipment on site including bowls and mats. The link up with the Dogs Trust will also see canine behaviour experts helping drivers with best practice for happy dog car journeys.

For Bowker MINI, Amy Lancaster-Hall, Group Marketing Manager said: “Many of our staff own dogs. In fact several have become dog owners recently for the first time. We love to talk about our dogs and share pictures of our walks on WhatsApp! So we were excited when MINI UK launched the partnership with The Dogs Trust.

“Dogs have always been welcome here at Bowker MINI. But now there will be even more focus on our customers’ canine companions! We decided to celebrate the launch … and what better time than International Dog Day?!”

Bowker MINI boasts a proud history of canine-loving credentials.

In July this year, Lancashire rescue dog George led their national crusade to produce and share the best video in the country on social media. George, abandoned by previous owners nine years ago, will now represent Bowker MINI Blackburn and Preston in Europe having been shortlisted to represent MINI UK in the next round of the competition.

In 2016, Bowker Motor Group flew six dogs into space whilst on a test drive. The interstellar journey was the fantasy plot for Bowker Motor Group’s annual Christmas video. The video footage featured singing dogs; a flight around Preston Marina; and a race with a jet fighter. The flying convertible then escaped into orbit with Magnus – its chauffeur-driven Bernese Mountain Dog passenger.

A recent survey conducted among MINI UK customers showed that 9 in 10 dogs (91%) are happy riding in a MINI, rising to 95% for MINI Clubman owners, confirming every MINI model has features that make it ideal for dog owners. Helping the dogs of the UK to travel happier, MINI stocks a range of dog travel products which includes a dog guard and rear compartment mat, everything MINI owners need to ensure their dog is safe, comfortable, and content in their vehicle.
