The Shadow Minister for Business and Consumer, Seema Malhotra, addressed an exclusive DIB event in Liverpool at the Hilton Hotel earlier this week (Tuesday 16th August 2022).

The Labour frontbencher discussed a range of issues, including the current challenges facing the hospitality sector and the wider visitor economy – in particular the impact industrial disputes are having on footfall into the city centre.

Malhotra also outlined her party’s plans to control energy prices, and her thoughts on how the UK can begin to improve its productivity performance and close the skills gap.

Seema was given a tour of the city centre’s retail district by the CEO of event sponsor the Liverpool BID Company Bill Addy, before addressing thirty Downtown members at the private lunch.
