Our Parliamentary Conference Pre-Conference Dinner, held at the elegant Smith & Wollensky, brought together influential voices from across business, politics and education. The evening was expertly led by Liam Robinson, Leader of Liverpool City Council, who spoke passionately about the city’s momentum. He celebrated Liverpool’s growing national and international presence while calling for even stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors to unlock its full potential.
We were delighted to hear from a wide range of contributors including Andy Bounds, Bill Esterson MP, Ryan Wain, Phil Mayall, Mike Wharton, Bill Addy, Joanne Henney, Stephen Young and representatives from Laing O’Rourke and The City of Liverpool College. The evening created space for honest conversation about the opportunities and challenges facing the region, including regeneration, inward investment, housing, skills and the need for partnership-led growth.
That spirit of collaboration continued at our Parliamentary Reception at the beautiful Terrace Pavilion at the House of Commons. The event brought together Ministers, MPs, peers, city region leaders and business decision-makers to shine a spotlight on the economic potential of the Liverpool City Region.
We were honoured to have Bill Esterson MP, Member for Sefton Central and Chair of the Energy and Net Zero Select Committee, open the reception with a compelling address on innovation, clean energy and the region’s national significance.
The conversation continued with insights from Bill Addy, Chief Executive of Liverpool BID Company, Elaine Bowker, Principal at The City of Liverpool College, Naomi Smith FCMA, Chief Executive of Best for Britain, Mike Wharton, Leader of Halton Borough Council and Deputy Mayor of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, and Lord Mike Storey, Member of the House of Lords and former Leader of Liverpool City Council.
Together, they explored Liverpool’s critical role in driving national growth through regeneration, innovation, education and international trade. A strong message emerged around the need for a joined-up approach that links housing, health, education and employment to create long-term prosperity.
There is a real sense of energy and ambition around Liverpool right now. We are proud of what has been achieved and excited about what comes next. Thank you again to all who joined us. We look forward to continuing these conversations and building the partnerships that will help shape a successful future for the Liverpool City Region.
