Downtown in Business is supporting the campaign to ‘Bring The Vivienne Home’, which aims to raise £120,000 to commission a life-size statue of Liverpool drag superstar The Vivienne.

The campaign, launched this week, is seeking support from businesses, organisations and individuals across the city to create a permanent tribute to one of Liverpool’s most recognisable LGBTQ+ icons.

The Vivienne, who rose to international fame after winning the first series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, was a hugely influential figure within Liverpool’s LGBTQ+ community and beyond. A statue in the city would provide a lasting recognition of the impact she had on the city’s cultural landscape and the wider LGBTQ+ community.

The proposed statue would be located on the corner of Victoria Street and Stanley Street, facing towards The Lisbon and Liverpool’s Pride Quarter.

As well as creating a permanent tribute, the campaign has ambitions to support the wider regeneration of the area. The statue is expected to attract additional daytime footfall into the Pride Quarter, encourage visitors to explore the surrounding businesses and help generate further interest and investment in the area.
