Global real estate advisor Avison Young have become the latest high- profile partner of Downtown in Business.

The private sector lobby group and business networking organisation announced the deal, which will see the two companies working together to host a series of high level, exclusive roundtable events, discussing the future of post-pandemic cities, and creating a policy document with some recommendations of how the economy can potentially recover after a turbulent 14 months.

DIB Chief Executive Frank McKenna said:

“We are delighted to welcome Avison Young to the stable of global brands who we now work alongside. Avison Young are one of the most respected real estate advisors in the world, and it is a great opportunity for us to work with their team.

“The UK Cities Recovery Index, updated by Avison Young on a weekly basis, offers a genuine benchmark in terms of how cities and regions are performing, and will provide a great platform from which we can discuss and debate some of the key issues and challenges that northern cities face in the post-COVID economy.”

Chris Cheap, Principal & Managing Director of Avison Young’s Manchester office, added:

“Our ambition is to make a genuine contribution to the ideas and thinking that is needed to navigate the UK out of recession, into recovery and beyond. Cities have always been the vibrant economic hubs that have driven UK PLC, and we want to explore how they continue to play that role in what will be a very different environment moving forward.

“With its high calibre of connections in both the public and private sectors, we identified Downtown in Business as the ideal partner to work with and deliver an exciting series of Roundtable conversations with some key personalities from across the North.” Avison Young join a number of top companies who partner with DIB, among them Atkins, Brock Carmichael, Bruntwood, Kier, Laing O’ Rourke, Morgan Sindall, and The UK Space Agency.
