Chartered accountants Ellis & Co are opening a new office in Wrexham City Centre, bringing the team closer to the businesses and individuals they work with across North Wales. The office will be officially opened with a launch evening on the 29th of October, from 5 pm until late at Queen’s Square Social.
The move gives Wrexham clients an easy place to drop in and sit down with their accountant in person, and makes it simpler for new clients to get to know the team. It also reflects how the firm likes to work. Across its offices in Chester and Warrington, Ellis & Co supports more than 1,000 clients, and each one has a dedicated account manager who gets to know them and their business.
One of Ellis & Co’s directors, John Farrell, said:
“Wrexham has always been an important part of who we are, and this new office puts us right in the heart of the city. Whether someone is just starting out or running an established business, what our clients value most is being able to pick up the phone or come in and talk to someone who knows them. Being in the city centre makes that easier for everyone.”
Wrexham has changed a great deal since it was granted city status in 2022, with new businesses opening and historic buildings such as The Old Library being given a new lease of life. Ellis & Co’s Accounts & Audit Senior, Leon Stowell, who is based in Wrexham, sees that momentum every day.
“There’s a real buzz about Wrexham at the moment, and we want to be part of it,” he said. “A lot of the businesses we work with are growing, taking on staff or thinking about their next step. Being in the city centre means we’re close by when those conversations happen, not just at the end of the year when the accounts are due.”
From the new office, the team will offer the full range of Ellis & Co’s services, including accounts and audit, bookkeeping, payroll, tax and VAT, support for business start-ups, and business development and consultancy. Having the team on hand locally will be especially useful this year. Since 6 April 2026, Making Tax Digital for Income Tax has applied to sole traders and landlords with qualifying income over £50,000, and many are looking for clear, practical advice on keeping digital records and sending quarterly updates to HMRC.
To mark the opening, Ellis & Co is hosting a launch evening on Thursday, 29 October 2026, at Queen’s Square Social. The new food and social place on the ground floor of The Old Library. Guests are invited to arrive from 5 pm to raise a glass, meet the team, have a bite to eat and catch up with the clients and connections the firm is proud to work alongside, including Nightingale House Hospice.
For Leon, the guest list says a lot about the firm.
“We’ve always said we’re more than just accountants. So much of what we do is about relationships. With our clients, with other local businesses, and with organisations like Nightingale House Hospice, which does such important work for families across the area. The launch evening is our way of saying thank you to the people who have supported us, and of welcoming anyone who’d like to get to know us better.”
The opening comes during a busy autumn for the firm. Ellis & Co has also been named a finalist for the DELSOL Business of the Year Award at the West Cheshire & North Wales Chamber Annual Recognition Awards 2026. The winners will be announced at the Chamber Annual Ball on Friday 13 November at Chester Racecourse.
“Being named a finalist means a lot to the whole team,” said John Farrell. “It comes from years of hard work and from the loyalty of our clients. Opening in Wrexham City Centre is the next chapter, and we’re looking forward to welcoming people through the door.”
