Three leading political and policy experts were in Birmingham this week, offering their thoughts on the recent General Election, and what they would like to see the new Labour government do to support business and economic growth.

In a special Leaders Lunch hosted by Downtown in Business at the fabulous Fazenda, the former advisor to Paddy Ashdown, Jo Phillips, policy director for the Tony Blair Institute Ryan Wain, and the chief executive of Best for Britain, Naomi Smith, led the discussion on the new political landscape with business leaders from across the city.

Tactical voting, the UKs future relationship with the EU, and communications strategy were among the key issues addressed, with all three speakers acknowledging the huge challenges facing the first Labour government in fourteen years – but also referencing some significant opportunities too.
