Law firm Glenville Walker and Partners welcomes the appointment of their Commercial Litigation Partner John Colvin.

A leading Northwest business specialist law firm has appointed a new Partner as it looks to implement its strategic growth strategy well into 2021.

Glenville Walker and Partners is an expert business law firm specialising in corporate, commercial, intellectual property, employment law, family law and property law with a straight-talking team that helps solve all business focused legal concerns. The firm unites high growth owner-managed businesses with commercially astute and pragmatic legal advisors.

John joins the team with a wealth of experience in commercial dispute resolution for an array of business clients for both corporate companies and individuals. Throughout his career, his previous experience as a partner at a number of blue-chip law firms across the Northwest has equipped him with practical knowledge of the business sector and an appreciation for the need to provide clients with clear and commercial advice. John is also recognised in the Legal 500 (2019) as ‘brilliant’ in Commercial Litigation and ‘highly regarded’ in Banking Litigation.

Denise Walker Director and Head of Business Law commented: “We started our firm at the beginning of 2017 providing legal advice in the areas of corporate, commercial and commercial property but we didn’t provide full commercial litigation services. As our business grew (and it has grown rapidly) we recognised the need to secure a quality experienced commercial litigator. Finding John was something of a miracle and we are delighted to have him onboard.

John’s skill sets are exactly what is needed in the current climate as business clients go through the next post pandemic recovery phase, which by all accounts, is predicted to be somewhat litigious.

We are here to help and advice so please get in touch with us if you need our services.”

John’s recent appoint at Glenville Walker and Partners naturally compliments the firms holistic commercial offering with his diverse caseload covering contractual disputes, shareholder disputes, Banking and Financial Services Litigation, and professional negligence actions. The addition of a new Litigation department adds to the firm’s services as a ‘one stop shop’ for all client’s business legal needs whilst remaining with their trusted solicitors.

John has expertise in matters of legal, technical, and factual complexity. His experience as an accredited Commercial mediator has enabled him to identify routes to potential settlement of dispute. He believes that dispute resolution at it most effective requires a bespoke approach in terms of strategy to each case, planning carefully from the outset, and without compromising robust and decisive action, keeping an agile and flexible mindset for the benefit of the client.

John added: “I am delighted to have joined Glenville Walker and Partners. Not only does GWP have an extremely impressive team of highly experienced and very well-regarded practitioners , led by one of the North West’s leading Corporate lawyers, Denise Walker, but it’s unique set-up and joined-up commercial offering resonates with my personal objective to provide at all times practical, effective and relevant assistance to those requiring commercial dispute resolution services.” In the last year, the firm’s growth has sparked considerable expansion including the appointments of key members of staff in various departments; Commercial Property Partner Philip Rees-Roberts, Property Associate Paul Smith, Commercial and Intellectual Property Trainee Chris Brown and Corporate Trainee Joanna Sproson.
