What to Expect:

9:30am – Networking Begins

Kick off the day with the opportunity to connect with like-minded professionals across the hospitality industry. This is your chance to build relationships, share ideas, and discover new opportunities.

10:30am begins our first panel with the topic – Culinary Art & Women in the Kitchen

In this thought-provoking discussion, we’ll be joined by leading figures in the culinary world— Sally Abé, celebrated Consultant Chef and author, and JoJo Smith, former pâtissier turned CEO at CreativSAS.

Hosted by Izzy Grey, director of WeLoveGoodTimes, the conversation will cover the challenges and triumphs of women in the kitchen, offering insight into breaking barriers in the culinary arts.

Then at 11:30am Steven Hesketh will host the topic – Design that Meets Place & People’s Perception

This panel brings together Hannah Shore, a sleep expert from Silentnight, and Lee Birchall, Managing Director at DV8 Design, to explore how design impacts guest experiences and perceptions in hospitality.

This discussion will delve into how aesthetics, comfort, and practicality come together to create memorable spaces.

After a Lunch Break at 1:15pm we come back to the main room to discuss the topic – Business Improvement Districts (BIDs): Impacting Visitor Economy & Place Making

Our afternoon kicks off with a deep dive into the critical role that BIDs play in shaping the visitor economy and local communities.

Hosted by Matt Townley, Operations Director at Dakota Hotels, the panel features industry heavyweights such as Steven Hesketh, Bill Addy (CEO at Liverpool BID Company), and Kumar Mishra (Chair at Manchester ABID).

The conference will then finish with the last topic at 2:15pm – Place Making, Politics & Visitor Economy in Cities

Closing out the day is a dynamic conversation with Sacha Lord, Manchester’s Night-Time Economy Advisor and author, alongside Frank McKenna, CEO of Downtown in Business.

Hosted by Steven Hesketh, this session will explore how politics and place-making intersect, and how the visitor economy shapes cities.

Sally Abé

Named “Chef to Watch” at the National Restaurant Awards 2019 and awarded the prestigious Chef of the Year title in 2020, Sally Abé is a powerhouse in the culinary world.

With an illustrious career that includes leading London’s top restaurants such as The Ledbury and The Harwood Arms, Sally now runs the acclaimed The Pem at Conrad London St James.

As a passionate advocate for women in hospitality, Sally continues to inspire, mentor, and lead. Her recently released memoir, “A Woman’s Place is in the Kitchen”, reflects her journey as a trailblazer in the industry.

Sacha Lord

Starting from the world of music with Manchester’s legendary Hacienda, Sacha Lord has since co-founded Parklife, Europe’s largest metropolitan festival, and The Warehouse Project. His work has brought millions into the local economy and created thousands of jobs.

Appointed Greater Manchester’s Night-Time Economy Advisor in 2018, Sacha has spearheaded initiatives to improve safety, accessibility, and diversity in nightlife.

His biography, Tales from the Dancefloor, became a Sunday Times Best Seller, cementing his status as a leader across hospitality, music, and politics.
