Liverpool-based law firm Glenville Walker has played a central role in securing full ownership of SPD CAD Services, guiding the telecoms design consultancy through what was described as an unusually complex management buyout.
The firm’s corporate team advised SPD CAD Services throughout the transaction, unpicking an intricate existing ownership structure and mapping out a practical route to completion. Directors Colin Dempsey and David Shon credited Glenville Walker with providing both strategic clarity and steady leadership as the deal evolved.
Dempsey said the firm’s guidance was instrumental: “They helped us navigate an unusual MBO arrangement and identified practical routes forward in complex circumstances.” Shon added that Glenville Walker’s adaptability and decisiveness “made the difference,” noting the team’s professionalism and “genuine empathy.”
Denise Walker, Head of Corporate, said the deal required “commercial pragmatism and strategic thinking,” but ultimately delivered full control to the leadership team of Dempsey, Shon, David Hampson and Howard Konieczek. “They’re brilliantly positioned to capitalise on the opportunities ahead,” she said.
With the transaction complete, SPD CAD Services – trading as SPD Telecom – plans to accelerate its growth strategy, building on 15 years serving major operators and contractors across the UK telecommunications infrastructure sector.
Glenville Walker will be the featured guests at this evening’s (Thursday 19 March 2026) Business Question Time event hosted by Downtown in Business at Liverpool’s Everyman Cinema on Whitechapel in the city centre.
