Downtown in Business hosts exclusive Northern Power Towns event

Downtown in Business Liverpool hosted a special breakfast time networking event at the Fantastic Gaucho restaurant in Liverpool on Tuesday. The exclusive ‘Northern Power Towns’ event discussed the changes and challenges occurring in the Liverpool city region and beyond, how best to champion growth and development and the future of towns in the North.

Downtown in Business Liverpool hosted a special breakfast time networking event at the Fantastic Gaucho restaurant in Liverpool on Tuesday 16th April 2024.

The exclusive ‘Northern Power Towns’ event was the latest in Downtown’s popular Power Towns event series.

Our previous Northern Power Town’s events have discussed the key issues of the day including the latest ‘levelling up’ agenda and questioning its objectives after comparing the agenda with similar previous government initiatives to boost and promote the north, as well as mayors and devolution.

Tuesday’s event was another eye-opening gathering attracting talent from a wide range of sectors and industries as well as business leaders and entrepreneurs from across the Liverpool city region and further afield from around the North.

Key speakers at the event included representatives from local councils including Stephen Young Chief Executive of Halton Borough Council, Stephen Watson Executive Director at Sefton Council and Lisa Harris, Executive Director at St Helens Council.

Drawing on their vast collective experience of working in positions of leadership and being placed at the heart of communities, they spoke about how businesses can work to make positive changes in the region.

Following this, the floor was open to questions and discussion as delegates shared their views and experience and had the opportunity to network with some of the best and brightest in business talent including entrepreneurs, and decision makers.

Downtown Chief Executive Frank McKenna commented: “We hope our members benefit from the unique insights and the newfound connections made today. There were some great questions and discussions going on as attendees shared their views and experiences.

“Today’s event was a testament to the resilience, innovation, and collaborative spirit driving Liverpool and the North forward.”

Thank you to everyone for attending, as well as our friends at Morgan Sindall DB3 Group and Muse for sponsoring the event and the amazing staff at Gaucho for hosting us!

As the region continues to evolve alongside the economic climate, events like these remain pivotal in fostering dialogue, driving, growth, collaboration and innovation across sectors and looking forward to the future.
