Downtown in Business hosted two events in Birmngham on Wednesday 14th September 2022.

The remarkable Commonwealth Games that were held in the West Midlands throughout the summer were highlighted, along with the effects they had on both the city and the surrounding area. The perfect speaker to explain what the games offered was Ian Reid, who joined us for the evening event in the idyllic surroundings on Hotel du Vin.

Earlier in the day DIB gathered a number of the city’s leading business personalities at Bank Restaurant to discuss the effect the games have had on Birmingham and to look at some of the other changes the city has seen in the past decade, such as a revamped train station, trams, significant inward investment, regeneration schemes galore in the city centre. The arrival of HS2 and it potential benefits was also discussed.

The legacy of CWG 22 will present opportunities for what council chairman Ian Ward is referring to as a “Golden Decade.” Here at DIB we hope we he is right and there’s plenty more to come from Birmingham in the coming years.
