Bruntwood and B&M Waste relationship goes from strength to strength

Following contract award across the Bruntwood group to B&M Waste Services earlier this year, the duo are achieving fantastic results in terms of waste minimisation and recycling, with a zero waste to landfill goal.

With over 100 buildings across Manchester, Cheshire, Leeds Liverpool and Birmingham the location synergies of Bruntwood with B&M Waste, who operate across the same regions and beyond, mean the carbon footprint of waste produced is reduced, with waste collection vehicle movements being optimised with B&M Waste’s industry leading optimised route planning, coupled with the Carbon Neutral status B&M Waste have maintained since 2011.

Furthermore, since contract award B&M Waste have worked closely with Bruntwood Facilities Management teams and tenants alike to ensure awareness and buy in of waste minimisations strategies via surveys and meetings, which has resulted in nominated recycling champions at each site. They even took part in a joint litter pick to further cement the recycling focus of the teams.

The partnership are continuing to work towards reducing the total amount of waste after participating in B&M Waste’s Simple Swaps waste programme which looks to minimise waste by making swaps such as staff water bottles to reduce the number of single use plastic bottles produced, offering coffee grounds free from the canteen outlets to be used as fertiliser and encouraging tenants to think before they buy single use items e.g. bringing lunch in Tupperware as opposed to purchasing lunch in single use containers.

Head of Property Management at Bruntwood, Simon Durbin said “Our Facilities Managers and myself are thrilled with how well things are going. The service is excellent and Steve Dale, our Account Manager is extremely helpful, in fact the entire B&M Waste team have been very proactive and responsive to ensuring the waste strategy achieves our waste minimisation and recycling aims. In my conversations with one particular member of my team he highlighted the fantastic work that Steve Dale is doing in managing the account.  “Steve is a shining example of what good contract management looks like and we use B&M as an example of working collaboratively with our other supply partners”. The key elements we appreciate is that Steve is reliable and passionate whilst strong on delivering on what he says he will do. I want to thank the B&M Waste team as I know from my own experience that as a service provider it is often only the bad news that filters through.”

Commenting from B&M Waste Services, Amber Greenhalgh, Commercial Director said “The enthusiasm and uptake of Bruntwoods team in developing waste minimisation and recycling strategies that work for their particular buildings and tenants has been exemplary. Well done to our very own Steve Dale as well on his commitment to ensuring we deliver the best service possible, to aid Bruntwood in achieving their sustainability goals. We look forward to continuing to develop new and innovative ways together with the Bruntwood team
