An exclusive charity lunch which is bringing together two of the West Midlands most celebrated figures is being sponsored by one of the UK’s leading wealth management firms.

Award-winning screenwriter and director Steven Knight CBE and respected businessman and Mayor of the West Midlands Andy Street CBE are teaming up for a one-off ‘in conversation with…’ lunch for Acorns Children’s Hospice.

The event on Thursday 5 March is being sponsored by the renowned Charles Stanley and Co, one of the oldest firms on the London Stock Exchange.

Hosted by Marc Reeves, Editor-in-Chief of Reach Plc Midlands, ‘Steven Knight CBE In Conversation with Andy Street CBE’ is taking place in support of the charity’s Save Acorns Black Country Hospice Appeal.

Amy Deakin, Acorns Partnerships Fundraising Manager, said: “Charles Stanley and Co are long-standing supporters of Acorns and we’re thrilled to have them on board sponsoring this unmissable event.

“With such fantastic guests and support from Charles Stanley and Co, we’re in no doubt that this event will be a real success, raising vital funds for our Appeal.”

Richard Venner, Director of Financial Planning Birmingham at Charles Stanley and Co, said: “We are delighted to be associated with Acorns and have been supporting their endeavors for 20 years.

“They are an incredible charity providing support to children across the West Midlands region who have life threatening conditions and associated complex needs – it is the least we could do.’

‘Steven Knight CBE in Conversation with Andy Street CBE’ will explore the formidable duo’s journey to success as well as their ambitious plans to make the creative arts as much a hallmark of Birmingham’s identity as its rich industrialist past. This intimate event is set within the Council Chamber; a must-see venue not usually open to the public.

The Save Acorns Black Country Hospice Appeal was launched by Acorns in July as the proposed closure of its hospice in Walsall was put on hold following pledges of additional NHS support, that should ensure the hospice is adequately funded from 2023/24 onwards.
